First Look 16: Softears Enigma, The Best Softears IEM
The very first look of the Softears Enigma, the new flagship from Softears.
I have tried quite a few softears IEM, be it those seen on this channel or at the shop for a short test. The Enigma is so far the only one that actually tempts me to buy it. It is the most expensive but also the most enjoyable to my liking.

    You said that the canon lens has more premium lens hood. I bought the Sony instead of Sigma for better picure quality, but Sigma is AWESOME for that price, but the main deal breaker was the non petal style lens hood.

      @@bokehbeauty hmm I have tried with a flash direct in frame and I don't see any serious flaring issues. More test is needed but many times the reason why there is bad flare/hazing is cause of either filter there's a smudge in the front element. @@mike.k I once had the lens cap fall off my EF 24-70 2.8 II during transportation. Rubbing between the lens cap and the front element during transport has left a scratch on the latter. Since then I use high quality clear or UV filters ( B+W, Breakthrough and Polar Pro). I know that a small scratch won't affect the IQ, but the front element coating peeling off with wear is much more worrying to me, as I've already experienced this problem with my own glasses.

    For someone who use multiple systems, what are your thoughts on this lens versus Sony 35mm 1.4?

    • @ZPProductions
      @ZPProductions 7 днів тому

      I think lens sharpness wise its similar. I remember I compared with the sigma before for the Sony and they are about the same ball park. The Sony has high amount of focus breathing and definitely not great for video. But it is lighter and more affordable. That said this is more of Sony vs Canon, and the system as a like Sony aggressive AF speed vs Canon more accurate eye detection probably matters more

    • @Sqeezy3
      @Sqeezy3 17 годин тому

      As an owner of Sony A7IV and 35mm GM. If I was offered to switch systems for free and had to get this lens, I wouldn't switch. The Sony one is superior i every but one way. The image quality is better, the especially the corners, cost is lower, I can actually use the aperture ring. The one thing Canon has better is focus breathing, which can be corrected in newer Sony cameras, as is my A7IV in video. For photography there is no correction, but it makes no difference. I'm waiting for the Canon fanboys, which fantasize about the bigger Canon RF mount being better than Sony's small E mount. This lens a big middle finger to that statement.

    • @ZPProductions
      @ZPProductions 17 годин тому

      @@Sqeezy3 Actually it also looses in light transmission. Other than that, if you are looking at extreme corner, the sony 35mm is better. But I won't use sony camera , owning the A1 for a good 2 years with my canon. For me doing portraits, canon is just more reliable eye af wise. Maybe the next gen A1 II ill come back to try again.

    • @Slipsch

      It’s better then titan with switch 1 engage. It’s titan with better clarity and highs but about the same amount of bass based on memory. The only thing more bassy is scarlet mini

    How does this compare to Fatfreq GM or Volür ?

    • @ZPProductions
      @ZPProductions 17 днів тому

      First I want to say comparison is UIEM type since there’s a large discrepancy in terms of ciems impressions. First I find the GM for me sits in a weird position. Either there is bass but alittle dull in the mids & highs, or no bass but really nice extended mids & highs. MSE is like the best of GM highs (though alittle thinner but sparklier) with the bass somewhere between both modes of GM. The volur wise I feel it’s a u12t with better bass. I personally think MSE is slightly better in most regards except the body of mids which Volur/u12t is better.

      @@ElNINETEENTH hmm I can’t compare to GM. But Rn6 vs MSE, if looking at absolute clarity and soundstage, MSE is better. But if it’s bass, energy and tonality I prefer Radon6.

    I actually really like the Evo. It works really well with my iPhone 14 pro. It sounds decent. No connection issues. The touch is finicky though. I picked it up from Aliexpress for $65 last week, so it's a much better value proposition that the iFi Go Pods.

    • @ZPProductions
      @ZPProductions 18 днів тому

      I used quite a lot of wireless devices the sound is all ok. To me it’s about the practicality of design. I do think the ifi go pods are real expensive and only worth if you are using insensitive iem. I have other complaints about it too. The Evo device itself other then being faulty on my set, I think they are fine, just a little low on the power department. But the case and orientation of storage just really don’t consider how customers will want to use it.

    How does the BC and double DD affect the experience? I mean compared to TOTLs without BC and with only single DD.

    • @ZPProductions
      @ZPProductions 19 днів тому

      Actually it really depends on how they are implemented. BCD can be of different frequencies and they will add additional depth/feeling to the sound of this frequencies. DD on the other hand is about bass response and how much it can push. There’s many DD designs from 7mm to 12mm so the number don’t really mean much other then it should have a theoretically better bass response and depth if more DD
